Well, if you know Kent at all, the sleepy village of Kilndown doesn’t exactly usually warrant a deviation to, until now!
The Globe and Rainbow Country Pub and Restaurant reopened about six months ago and now having just dined there, our only reservation- we wish we had visited sooner.
We managed to wangle a table mid week there and were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside. Modern decor, yet with a rustic country charm we enjoyed drinks at the bar- Delicious ( and well priced) Prosecco. Once seated, we were then greeted with mourish little pre dinner Arancini Balls with garlic mayo, while we perused the modern menu.
We enjoyed amazing flavours in both the lamb and chicken main courses we ordered and they offered a different veg option the moment we had ordered a meal minus the asparagus, a really nice touch we thought. We had saved room for dessert and lucky that we did. My Cappuccino Creme Brûlée was extraordinary and had Heston Blumenthal moments about it!! They even have their own sharing dessert plate called “over the rainbow”….we are definitely trying that one next time.
